Making a decent living in Highlands East and especially in Ward 3 can be tough. A lot of our jobs are seasonal and winter can be hard on many family incomes.
Prior to the election, I was focused on solving Ward 3 employment challenges, not thinking of the rest of the municipality. However, reality is that unemployment is a municipal-wide problem. We must grow our existing businesses and expand into new ones. When our businesses and trades hire more help, everyone wins!
As a former business consultant, I immediately said 'Yes' when asked to chair the new municipal advisory committee for economic and business development. Council will be able to better assist an organized group that has expertise and commitment from across the municipality than trying to deal with individual challenges on its own.
For more information on what this group is about and how to get involved go to the Economic Development tab.
